Did you know that an apple bin can hold 2200 apples? We sure didn’t. In fact, for two ladies who grew up in Yakima with orchards surrounding our childhood homes, we knew an embarrassingly small amount about apple harvest at all. Thankfully, we met some really great peeps at Allan Bros. who took us on an a sweet tour of their orchards while Gala harvest was in full-swing. Read more here.

Last week, we checked out the new YMCA Aquatic Center and, WOW. We can't wait for the doors to open. We are most excited for the outdoor yoga area, the rec room, the eight lane lap pool, the lazy river, and the day care. It's a beautiful facility and they are crossing their fingers for a Novemberish open date -- just in time for us to get fit for the holidays. Watch the construction LIVE here.

Are you heading over to the Yak from out-of-town or are you a local and need to recommend a hotel to friends? We hearted the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown in our Downtown Yakima Guide. The remodel is stellar and the location is key. Check it out when you get a chance and look for our shirts in their lobby (coming soon). We love seeing the the continuous upgrades to our downtown. Robert Rivers and Fernanda Menna Barreto Krum, owners of Imagine Nation Brewing Company in Missoula, MT came to the Valley to pick up their hops from Carpenter Ranches for their 2019 fresh hop brew. While only here for 72 hours, they ate all the food, drank the beer, and soaked in the sun. We sent them on the road with hugs, carne from Los Amigos, a magnum of Gilbert Rosé, and trunk full of produce from Dagdagan Farms. In between smelling hops they both exclaimed, "Yakima's got SOUL. We'll be back for more. We need to try out pupusas, check out the flyfishing, and do some wine tasting."
We so agree Robert and Fernanda. Come back, we've got more to show off!!
